Gangster Chhota Rajan, 3 others convicted in a fake passport case by Delhi court. Arguments on sentence to be heard tomorrow
Patiala House court has convicted Chhota Rajan in a fake passport case. The sentencing would be pronounced on the next date of hearing, said court. In January 2017, the court had framed charges against the gangster and three others in connection with the fake passport case.
In February, the CBI had filed a chargesheet against Rajan and the three government employees. The charges were filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1998, the Indian Penal Code and the Passport Act. Criminal conspiracy, cheating and forgery. Rajan had used a passport issued in the name of Mohan Kumar, a fictitious identity, to escape the law. “He was accused in several cases of heinous nature, involving charges of murder and extortion. In 1995, a Red Corner Notice was issued against him, therefore, he used a new identity to escape,” the prosecution told the court.
